An Expert Talk for fifth-semester students of B.Tech (All Programmes) was conducted on October 17, 2024, in room no. A108, Institute of Technology, Nirma University, from 02:00 p.m. to 03:00 p.m. for the Introduction to Digital Humanities (Minor) course. Dr Lukman Mansuri, an eminent academician at the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University, gave an expert lecture on the topic, Digital Storytelling: The Integration of Intangible and Tangible Heritage in the City of Surat, India. He discussed the relevance of conserving, preserving, and managing architectural heritage in today’s era. To achieve these objectives, the speaker demonstrated how digital technologies are helping scientists and researchers process and present digital heritage data in the cultural heritage domain. The speaker showcased some digital tools such as Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM) and Virtual Reality (VR) that he had used in one of his projects for the city of Surat to explore its urban heritage through digital storytelling. The lecture stimulated insightful discussions on incorporating digital technologies for urban heritage conservation.
