Dr. Aman Deep Singh presented his research paper titled “Anthropomorphism and Social Robotics in Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun (2021)” at IEEE HTC 2023, Rajkot, Gujarat on 16th October.
Anthropomorphism is a metaphorical approach to new ideas and entities and the concept of anthropomorphism has increasingly become relevant with the proliferation of AI. By embodying human-like traits in AI systems, the interaction between users and machines becomes more realistic, instinctive, and personalized. Anthropomorphism is a complex yet subtle phenomenon that can blur and complicate the distinction between human and non-human. It intuitively endows us with compelling physical and social features to shape and understand artificial intelligence, artificial sociability, artificial consciousness, and how HRI (human-robot interaction) is conceptualized in various fields like robotics, literature, films, sociology, anthropology, etc.
