Dr. Pooja Shah, Assistant Professor at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University, delivered an insightful lecture titled “Hate Speech Detection in Online Platforms: Computational Techniques and Psychological Impact” to B.Tech. VI semester students in Digital Humanities on 21 February 2025. She defined hate speech and discussed its implications for social media, highlighting innovative computational techniques like natural language processing and machine learning for detection. Dr Shah also addressed the psychological effects of hate speech, including anxiety and social polarisation. She advocated for a balanced approach that combines technology with human moderation, engaging students in discussions about the ethical responsibilities of tech companies in managing online discourse.
